Another prominent temple in Tirupati is Sri Vari Padala Mandapam, dedicated to the presiding divinity Padala Venkateswara Swamy. Situated at the Alipiri, popularly known as ‘the Gateway to Tirupati Balaji Temple’, on the foothills of Tirumala Hills, it is also visited by a huge number of devotees every day.

According to the legend, Lord Venkateswara Swamy, who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, goes to meet his beloved Goddess Padmavathi Devi in Tiruchanoor. Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple is located Tiruchanoor, dedicated to the Goddess Padmavati. As per beliefs, Lord goes to meet his beloved every night, after the Ekanta Seva in the Tirumala Temple. He walks down the footpath of Alipiri route and leaves his footwear at Alipiri Padalu. Thus, the place has been named as Alipiri Padala Mandapam.

Devotees, who walk to the Tirumala Temple through the Alipiri footpath route, first seek blessings at the Srivari Padala Mandapam temple and then move ahead. Pilgrims usually carry Padukalu, holy footwear of Lord Venkateswara, on their head to the temple.

Maintained by TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams), this temple comes under the administration of Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, which is another prominent pilgrimage in the holy town of Tirumala.

One of the best times to visit this temple is during the festival of Metlotsavam, which is organised once in every three months. During this time, devotees trek through the Alipiri route to the Tirumala, chanting religious songs and mantras.

Sri Vari Padala Mandapam Temple timings are from 5 AM to 8 PM. The seva charges at the temple are minimal. Pilgrims are required to pay a charge of Rs. 5 for Padala Seva, Rs. 10 for Ekantha Seva and Rs. 20 for Abhishekam.

There are two sub-temples of Srivari Padalamandapam Temple. Located to the eastern side of Srivari Padala Mandapam is the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple with two sub temples attached to it, namely Andal Temple and Periyalwar Temple. This temple was renovated recently; in the year of 2005. Srivari Padala Mandapam Temple opening timing of is at 5.30 AM, while it closes by 8 PM.

Another sub temple of Srivari Padalamandapam is the Sri Vinayaka Swamy Temple, also popular with the name of Ghat Road Vinayaka Swamy. Devotees, who reach Tirupati through via road, visit this temple to seek blessings for their safe travel. Timings of this temple are from 5.30 in morning till 7 in night.
