Located at a distance of 49 km from Chittoor, Tirumala Temple, Talakona Waterfalls is one of the highest waterfalls in the country. With white streams of water falling from a height of 270 feet, Talakona waterfalls presents a breathtaking view amid serene natural surroundings. The word Talakona, means head-hill. It is derived from Telugu word, Tala means head while Kona means hill, signifying the ‘head of Seshachalam hills’.

There are many beliefs associated with Talakona waterfalls. It is believed that Talakona waterfall has therapeutic qualities, its water which flows through a variety of herbs and medicinal plants, has the power of curing many ailments.

Its natural beauty allures many photographers who would come to click Talakona waterfalls photos. Originating from Seshachalam Hills, this waterfall is located in the Sri Venkateswara National Park, which is another place comprising of Talakona tourism. This place also makes for an ideal picnic spots, where tourists can spend a few moments of relaxation amid the best of natural settings.

Devotees, after seeking the blessings of Lord Venkateswara at Tirupati Balaji Temple, visit Talakona waterfalls; it's refreshing beauty rejuvenates everyone. Those who like adventure can also trek to the waterfall as there are many trek routes to the waterfall. Trekkers can also come across many caves, which are located in and around mountains. It is believed that saints used to meditate in these caves. The trekking route is from the Lord Siddeswara Swamy Temple, which is located quite close to the waterfall. Built in 1811 AD, by a devotee Appa Swamy, it is often visited by pilgrims. The trek from the temple to the Talakona waterfall can be covered in 30 minutes through the forests; the distance is of about 2 km.

There is also accommodation facility available here around Talakona waterfalls. There are many hotels and resorts in Talakona, including a TTD guest house as well. There is Forest Guest house, offering a comfortable stay amid the natural beauty of dense forest. Tourists can spend a few quite days in the company of wild animals and lush greenery, while at the same time get darshan of deities at various temples of Tirupati.

Tourists visit the waterfall throughout the year. However, the best time to visit Talakona waterfall is from the month of November to January, as after the monsoon season the Waterfall looks more appealing with increased amount of water, cascading with more power.
